🌿 Dermal Filler Preparation Guide

Ready to restore volume or enhance your features? Here’s how to prepare for your filler appointment:

A Few Days Before

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications & supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, St. John’s Wort) for 3–5 days, unless prescribed by your doctor.

  • Skip alcohol for 24 hours prior.

  • If you’re prone to cold sores, let us know — we may recommend preventive medication.

  • Postpone your appointment for at least 2 weeks if you’ve had a recent dental procedure or active infection, as this may increase the risk of complications.

  • Reschedule if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, sick, or have a skin infection in the treatment area.

On Treatment Day

  • Arrive with a clean face (no makeup in treatment areas).

  • Eat a light meal beforehand to avoid lightheadedness.

  • Plan for possible mild swelling or bruising—don’t schedule right before a major event.

Tip: Schedule filler at least 2 weeks before special occasions to allow for optimal healing and settling.

🌿 Dermal Filler Aftercare Guide

Thank you for choosing fillers to enhance your natural features! Some swelling or tenderness is normal — here’s how to care for your results:

Right After Treatment

  • Use a gentle touch only — avoid rubbing, massaging, or pressing on treated areas for the 1st 48 hours. Avoid sleeping on injected areas for at least 1 week.

  • Apply a cold compress (10–15 minutes at a time- If you experience swelling or bruising, apply cold pack gently with no pressure, as needed.

  • Avoid makeup on treated areas to reduce risk of infection for the first 24 hours.

  • Avoid the following- (Lip injections); chapstick or lipstick for the next 2-4 hours.  You may gently apply fresh Aquaphor, Arnica gel, or a similar soothing product to keep lips hydrated and support healing after lip filler.

First 24 Hours

  • Avoid strenuous activity, heavy lifting, or intense exercise and activities that cause sweating or increase your heart rate.

  • Limit sun exposure- Stay out of direct sunlight, saunas, and tanning beds for at least 48 hours..

  • Stay hydrated and keep the area clean.

  • Do not drink alcohol, as it may increase swelling and bruising.

Additional Restrictions

  • Avoid drinking through a straw or vaping - for at least 2 weeks, as the pressure can cause filler to shift.

Healing Timeline

  • Mild swelling or bruising is common and may last a few days to a week.

  • Small lumps or firmness often soften as the filler settles.

  • Results timing- Experience visible enhancements right after treatment, with optimal results becoming more apparent after a few days once swelling goes down.   Full integration usually within 2 weeks.  Results lasting 9-12 months. Touch up suggested around that time.

  • Follow-Up- If you notice any unusual symptoms such as prolonged swelling or pain.  Also use oral or topical Arnica gel if needed for bruising.  Small lumps and bumps are normal during the healing process, some take longer than others for those to go away.  Call or text with any questions, especially if areas appear red, hot to the touch, or discoloration/blotchy areas occur.

Tip: Schedule filler at least 2 weeks before major events to allow for healing and natural settling.
